Projections

An element from the MetaConstruct, these aspects grew from earlier (1970's) installations involving slide-projections on moving surfaces. Often the projected image was the 'still version' of the moving background; black on black, and white on white drapery was a frequent component of these impromptu exhibits. The MetaConstruct developed imagery from a personal collection of nurses' uniforms, commercial film-leader frames, and a preoccupation with photographing parked white cars at night. These explorations were somehow distilled in the form of sculptural presentations of various generic water-glasses atop hand-cut circular plate-glass mirrors; both a sacrifice and a consecration.

Another outcome was a sort of 'in-line' image: small newspaper ads were to be converted into machine-stitched garment tags and sewn into the nurses' uniforms.
